D5 Out of Beta

If you think of the tech-conference industry as a giant motherboard, then we’re just moments away from overclocking it. At 6:15 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time, D: All Things Digital 5 kicked off, beginning three days of candid, no-holds-barred conversation with tech’s thought leaders. Eric Schmidt, Steve Ballmer, George Lucas, Steve Case, Jeff Hawkins, Peter Chernin, John Chambers and others will all take the D5 stage in the coming days, and we’ll be covering every moment of their appearances right here, including a historic joint appearance by Apple CEO Steve Jobs and Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates, which may well cause D5 to exceed the tech-conference industry’s recommended operating conditions.

AllThingsD.com will, of course, be at the center of it all with as-it-happens, all-access coverage of the conference. Liveblogging of the sessions and demos. Videos of the speakers. Photos of attendees. You’ll find our D5 coverage here, now through the weekend.
