  1. My favorite line has gotta be the “Bill… Bill… let me tell the story!”

  2. Great video, wish I was there. I definately do not think Steve “stole the show”, he just showed less restraint, which is definately his character.

Great interview Walt and Kara, can’t wait to see what’s next.

  3. Maybe it is your connection that’s a problem. The video streamed perfectly for me.

And the website looks excellent to me. Graphically clean and well organized.

  4. Great little interview … What about Linux, you should have had Linus Torvalds there as well. Many of us have wondered what Gate’s and Job’s opinions would be about Linux. After all, a majority of the world’s web servers run Linux, and OS/X is BSD Unix, and Linux has had a noticeable impact on Microsoft’s server sales. To have them weigh in on this would have been even better.

  5. Great interview with the founders of our future.

Check out the solo interview clip with Steve.

Best quote is at the end where Steve comments on iTunes on Windows, and says: It’s like giving a glass of icewater to someone in hell”

  7. Does anyone know what song is playing at the beginning of the video?

  8. Rush - Time Stand Still plays at the beginning.

Bill just tells it like it is. Job has to paint it pretty.

Jobs, Kara and Walt all entered from the same side while Bill came from across the room. Power move by Jobs. Bad hosting by Kara and Walt. This not a boxing match, but a meeting of the minds. Bill did place his left hand in his pocket before shaking hands. To me that signals he is holding back some feelings. The seating arrangement could have been better, Bill was in left field. Bill’s comment that he is not the fake Steve Jobs was a good solid blow by Bill. While Bill was spurting off facts about screen buffers, Steve is twitching his legs in his seat. Job’s seemed uncomfortable that Bill was a bit more knowledgeable in this area and that a squeak of information that Bill had to help Apple with its software issues.

  9. Bryn,

The song at the beginning is “Love Will Find a Way” by Yes.
I signed up for this comment section just to get this cleared up…
In the original song, the beautiful guitar riff you’re hearing in the video is not starting until about 10-15 secs into the song, so maybe that caused the confusion…

    Have a nice day,

    B.

  10. @Bryn,

I agree that the interview set-up could have been better, but these guys have been around the block a few times… I don’t think that had any affect on the outcome of the interview. No offense, but I think you are reading way to much into the body language. If anything, I think that the hand in the pocket was a taste of Bills personality. You know a bit more reserved and formal where as Steve is a little more relaxed and outgoing.

I have to be honest I have been pro Steve and anti Bill for many years, but this shined a new light on Bill for me. I thought he was at times very witty and quite funny, something I never expected… I did like the interaction between them, like 2 friends who have lost touch with each other and are gettting to know each other again.

Perhaps this will lead to bigger and better things, if not, oh well. It was very entertaining.

  11. That was simply an amazing interview. From someone who grew up with apples and microsoft dos/windows; it really was fascinating. I think people have truly forgotten how reliant Microsoft were on Apple (50% of revenues at one point) it clearly made Microsoft.
It’s also very clear Bill and Steve go back a very long way and have always maintained a respectful relationship, and have done a lot of business together. The media has painted a very very wrong picture of these two, which has been rightly corrected. They are just doing different things feeding off each other, and clearly have the most absolute respect for each other. To be honest I was pro Steve when I started watching this and now I realise they are just on different paths, in the the same field, both equality as valid.
It’s just so nice to see the mutual respect and willingness to speak like this. It really give me hope that technology is the eutopia we are looking for. I can’t imagine politicians on oppossing sides, or other companies in competitive fields, talking like this. It’s truly amazing. This is how it should be. Just one big friendly competition with complete respect for people on the other side of the fence. I’m not religious, but in the bible It says, “love thy neighbour” today is the first time in my life I truly understand what that means. Yes, it was that epic if you were in the right mental state!

  12. It’s interesting they wonder what it will be like 10 years from now (end of part 10). Perhaps they should think about what Al Gore and most scientists say what we should do to prevent a major global climate catastrophe: Prevent further climate change. So instead of putting their philanthropy money towards humanitarian efforts that foster further overpopulation (which makes the main problem worse!), they should do more environmental philanthropy.

  13. A wonderful interview, but as another member did, The music at the beginning was driving me crazy that I couldnt place it. THANK YOU! Great work D5. One note, it looked like Bill was a little disturbed at the cemetary comment.

  14. Nice work. I love Jobs’s comment about keeping their marriage secret. Gotta say, the guy has a sense of humour!
